Rehabilitation of Existing Homes

Village Rehabilitation Program

One of the greatest housing needs that were unmet before NAHASDA was improvement and preservation of existing homes. In cooperation with tribes, IRHA’s housing rehabilitation program evaluates the condition of homes, and develops budgets for needed work items. The tribe reviews and approves the proposed scope of work, based on NAHASDA funds allocated to the tribe by Congress. After retaining an on-site project foreman, IRHA hires and trains local residents to perform the rehabilitation work.
